Víctor O. Acevedo-Hernández, Esq. is an Attorney at Casillas, Santiago & Torres, LLC whose practice area spans nearly every type of litigation or dispute in Puerto Rico. He holds the position of Special Counsel in the Litigation and Labor Department where he specializes in civil and criminal litigation and investigations. Mr. Acevedo-Hernández gained significant-litigation experience at the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico where, as a federal prosecutor, he tried numerous complex and high-profile cases involving the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and other-federal-criminal violations. In addition, Mr. Acevedo-Hernández argued before the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit several-complex appeals of RICO trials. Because of his effectiveness in litigation, on three occasions, the US Department of Justice honored Mr. Acevedo-Hernández with the highest award for legal performance, the Attorney General’s John Marshall Award.

Furthermore, Mr. Acevedo-Hernández has considerable-investigative experience. At the US Attorney’s Office, he served as a supervisor in the Violent Crimes and National Security Section and the Firearms Unit and worked in the Financial Fraud and Public Corruption Section. There, he oversaw and participated in many investigations involving white-collar crimes; the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; labor racketeering; RICO; money laundering; violent crimes; drug trafficking; and firearms. Because of his notable-investigative work with the Federal Food and Drug Administration, Mr. Acevedo-Hernández was the recipient of an award recognizing his outstanding contribution and support as a federal prosecutor.

Prior to his work as a federal prosecutor, Mr. Acevedo-Hernández was a local prosecutor where he handled criminal litigation and investigations in state court. Prior to his role as a local prosecutor, Mr. Acevedo-Hernández was a law clerk to the Hon. Jay. A. Garcia-Gregory, United States District Judge, where he assisted the judge in handling civil and criminal cases before the federal court.
